3389 port To use RDP, you need to open port 3389 on your Windows firewall and your router. This will allow incoming and outgoing traffic on that port and enable you to connect to your PC remotely. However, opening port 3389 also exposes your PC to potential attacks from hackers who can scan for open ports and try to break into your system..
port 3389 not listening  The private port is 3389 as said above unless you change it, and the public port can be whatever. I have mine set to 10000, so when I connect using Remote Desktop Connection, I have to enter mycomputer.com:10000
3389 port tcp or udp  Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is a proprietary protocol developed by Microsoft to remotely connect to a Windows system using a graphical user interface. RDP is built into Windows by default. RDP listens on TCP port 3389 and udp port 3389. Previously, the RDP software was called Terminal Services client but now it’s called Remote Desktop Connection.
